Rantoul Tournament Overnight Trip - Letter to parents/players
August 21, 2013
Dear Lady Bulldog Golfer,
You have been invited to attend our annual overnight trip to Champaign, IL to play in the Brookhill/Centennial Golf Tournament. Brookhill Golf Course and Centennial High School host the Girls Golf Invitational, which is held on Friday, August 30, 2012 at Brookhill Golf Club in Rantoul, Illinois. The format
in the past has been 18 hole stroke play playing 6 players and counting 4 scores.
Champaign,IL, about 20 minutes south of Rantoul, is where the team has traditionally stayed overnight on that Thursday before. This year we will be staying at the
Country Inn Suites in Champaign located at 602 West Marketview Drive, Champaign, IL 61822.
The girls will need to be at my house on Thursday, August 29th, after school at
4:30pm. My address is 1016 Parkview Drive. We will depart on the activity bus about 4:45pm for Champaign and the hotel (each girl will have
one or two roommates, for a total of four rooms for the 12 players). The girls that will be playing will be determined by their averages at
the time of the tournament. The top 6 will play, the other girls that choose to attend will have an extended
driving range and putting practice during the tournament. After arrival and check-in (about 7:45pm Friday evening), as a team we
will go out for a team dinner. This year we will go to Ryan’s (similar to a Golden Corral), which is in
close proximity to the hotel. Following this, it is an early bedtime, as the girls will need to be up and preparing to depart for the tournament in Rantoul the next day.
This year the booster money covered the hotel costs, but the dinner at Ryan’s will not be included. Please send your girls with money to cover their dinner on Thursday night (menus for this restaurant are available online if you’d like to get an idea of prices). The hotel does offer a continental breakfast in the morning, so this will be covered as part of the hotel expenses paid for by the team. A lunch ticket will be provided for the girls at the tournament, but
please make sure they are equipped with snacks/water, etc. It is a long day playing golf and this year we don’t tee off until
1pm. We will depart for the tournament about 10:30am from the hotel, and following the 30 minute drive to Rantoul, the girls will be provided free range balls prior to a 1pm shotgun start. The girls will need some money for Friday evening as well, as we will probably get dinner at the course
or on the road home.
Please contact me with any additional questions. It should be a great (and memorable) time for the girls!
